Electrification Leading Toyota’s New Urban LCV

Toyota has chosen the UK as the venue for the global launch of its new compact LCV the Proace City likely to feature its latest hybrid powertrain.

The vehicle continues the carmaker’s partnership with PSA, which produces Citroën’s and Peugeot’s compact vans. The Proace Verso, Toyota’s MPV entry, is essentially a rebadged version of the Peugeot Traveller and Citroën SpaceTourer, while the original Proace is a Citroën Jumpy by any other name.

It’s likely that the Proace City will also be based on a Citroën LCV, although it’s hard to be sure which one. Since PSA plans to offer electric or hybrid versions of every model in its range by the end of this year, it’s possible that the van will feature some kind of hybrid option alongside the standard diesel and gasoline options.

Toyota will unveil the Proace City at the 2019 Commercial Vehicle Show, taking place at National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, on 30 April.
