Coulomb Technologies: “In 10 years, half of all cars will have a cord on them”

Where within the electric vehicle industry does your company sit?
Coulomb provides equipment, software, and services that enable companies to offer charging services.
What are you working on now?
We continue to develop innovative new hardware and services for charging vehicles. We also are welcoming more partners to use our ChargePoint network.
How do you differentiate your offerings from your competitors?
We’ve got hundreds of customers who own thousands of EV charging stations and use our network. Our network is in operation in 14 countries via Network Operating Centers in London, Hong Kong, and Dallas. We’ve been shipping equipment since 2008. Four hardware manufacturers use our network and software.
What partnerships are you looking at?
We welcome any EV charging hardware supplier to use our network and take advantage of our broad suite of EV charging business applications. We also work with other members of the EV world to provide information needed for navigation systems, billing systems, and asset management systems.
What’s been your most exciting recent innovation?
Coulomb has just introduced charging station reservations. This makes it finally possible to use your electric vehicles across metropolitan areas.
What issues will impact the industry the most in the coming years?
Dramatic growth in the number of electric vehicle manufacturers and the volume of cars each one will deliver.
Where do you see the EV industry in 10 years?
In 10 years, half of all cars sold will have a cord on them. The most important development is $6-a-gallon gasoline.
