Cohda Wireless develops technology that improves V2V communication

The technology has produced connected vehicle and safe vehicle applications that work in more places, more of the time.

ITS and V2V systems demand robust, broadband communications links in harsh radio environments, and these links become safety-critical in ITS applications such as Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC).

Cohda Wireless' technology was originally developed for the most demanding mission-critical safety application of all: public safety.

Cohda Wireless has completed more than 700 DSRC trials in Australia, Italy and the US, for fifteen distinct DSRC use-case scenarios including intersection collision warnings and do not pass warnings.

The results show that while the DSRC systems using WiFi chipsets are severely challenged by the combination of mobility and multipath, the Cohda Radio provides a robust communications link with valuable time to deploy counter measures, and the potential to avoid a collision altogether, and/or transfer more data between the RSU and the vehicle.
