Citroën Goes on Electric Offensive With New Hybrid SUV

Citroën has announced a new hybrid vehicle as it aims for its goal of offering electrification on every model by 2025.

The C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid will achieve 31 miles on electric power with CO2 emissions of 39g/km and fuel consumption of 166mpg (138mpg US), according to the WLTP test cycle. Power wise, it has a 177bhp internal combustion engine, paired with an 80kW electric motor, meaning together they generate 221bhp and 236ft-lbs of torque.

The French auto brand, part of the PSA Group together with Peugeot, DS, Opel and Vauxhall, currently doesn’t have any fully electric vehicles available for purchase, but says in a statement that by the end of 2020, it will ‘make electric automobiles available to all’ with the launch of 6 new electrified models.

The C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid will cost £35,340 with deliveries taking place in the first half of 2020.
