China Demands Tesla Recall over More Lighting Failures

Tesla’s recall woes continue with China’s market regulator demanding that the automaker recalls 435,132 models made in the country over faults with vehicle side or clearance lamps.

The move, reported by Reuters, follows on from the BEV maker’s recall of more than 320,00 cars in the US over rear light problems. China’s regulator called for the recall of domestically made Model 3 and Model Y on Thursday.

Tesla must now recall 142,277 Model 3 cars and 292,855 Model Ys because the side lights in some of these cars could fail to work owing to software errors, leading to collision risks under extreme circumstances, according to a statement by the State Administration for Market Regulator. The regular added that Tesla it will remotely update the software in the cars through over-the-air updates hoping to fix the problems.
