BMW’s 4 Series BEV to Produce 523bhp

BMW’s next BEV, the i4, will produce 523bhp as the German automaker aims for the Tesla Model 3’s spot on the market.

BMW says this is the equivalent amount of power to a V8-powered 4 Series. This amount of horsepower, coming from an electric motor, will see the car will accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4 seconds, with a top speed of around 125mph. The 1212.54lbs battery, meanwhile, will be able to store 80kWh of energy and charge at speeds of up to 150kW, enabling charging of 62 miles of range in just six minutes. The battery can be fully charged in 35 minutes.

The i4 has previously been seen in concept form, the BMW 4 Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year. The car will go into production in 2021. The same powertrain will also power the BMW iX3 SUV, which will go into production next year.
