BMW Teams Up with NGO for Infotainment

BMW has teamed up with a non-for-profit radio service provider in a ne smart radio partnership for its infotainment systems.

Radioplayer, a radio platform backed by major broadcasters around the world, will begin enhancing BMW’s in vehicle radio offerings to consumers across Europe from next year. The partnership will see BMW using official broadcaster metadata from Radioplayer’s Worldwide Radioplayer API (WRAPI) delivered over the internet.

This system claims to guarantee a rich digital experience while also being easy to use, with radio station search via an A-Z list and high-resolution station logos on the screen. As part of the agreement, both companies will be joined by a global network of broadcasters to help shape the future development of “smart radio”.

The agreement with BMW Group is based on our unique Radioplayer model, collaborating through us with our thousands of international member stations to keep radio strong. This is the start of an exciting and fruitful partnership.” Radioplayer has an existing partnership with the Volkswagen Group.
