BMW Reveals Most Powerful iX BEV

BMW has unveiled its third and most powerful version of its BEV BMW iX cross-over, the range-topping iX M60.

Boasting the power equivalent of 614bhp and 811ft-lbs of torque the soft-roader claims a 0-to-62mph sprint time of just 3.8 seconds and a claimed range between charged of 357 miles on the WLTP rating. Billed as a sports activity vehicle (SAV) it features an aluminum spaceframe with a carbon cage and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the roof, side and rear sections to increase rigidity and lower weight.

As with most BEVs, aerodynamics have been improved as much as possible with the iX M60 claiming a coefficient of drag of 0.27 to boost battery efficiency and range. Also in common with most BEVs, the battery pack as low as possible in the underbody, lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity in a bid to offset the huge extra weight over a conventional ICE powertrain and reduce handling problems at speed.

The BMW iX M60 is manufactured together with the other model variants at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, Bavaria, and the global market launch will begin in summer 2022. European prices will start from around $125,000 including local taxes.
