BMW Brings Gaming into Next Year’s Models

BMW plans to bring online gaming capabilities into its vehicles’ cabins to keep passengers entertained, presumably, to help drivers concentrate in silence?

The automaker has teamed up with AirConsole to install gaming platforms into new BMWs from next year. The company’s gaming platform will be integrated into with the BMW Curved Display and claims to offer a large and diverse catalogue of games. The games are run directly inside the vehicle entertainment system.

The technology enables games to be delivered over-the-air and to control them using smartphones. To access the gamily platform, players only need a smartphone and scan a QR code in the vehicle. Stephan Durach, senior vice-president BMW Group connected company development, said: “With AirConsole we will leverage innovative technologies combined with a broad variety of fun and multiplayer games. This will make every waiting situation inside the vehicle, such as charging, an enjoyable moment.”
