America News: New York cabbies threaten to strike over GPS proposal
According to an NY1 News report, New York’s cab drivers are threatening to hang up their keys in response to the Taxi & Limousine Commission’s plan to install GPS devices in all yellow and livery cabs.
The New York Taxi Workers Alliance has long opposed the plan – claiming it is an invasion of drivers' privacy.
The Alliance is encouraging its 8,400 members to walk off the job on September 1st.
