America News: Google to bid for wireless spectrum

According to a recent Financial Times report, Google plans to bid up to $4.6 billion in a forthcoming auction of wireless spectrum in the US.
Known as the “700Mhz auction”, it will release a large block of spectrum for new high-speed wireless networks previously used by TV broadcasters.
However, Google has indicated it would participate in the auction only if federal regulators adopted rules for the auction that had already been strongly opposed by existing wireless companies.
