America News: ADP, KIA and Roadside Telematics to develop RoadMedic®

ADP, Kia Motors America and Roadside Telematics Corp have announced a collaborative effort to develop and introduce a patented database service – the RoadMedic® Key Registry.
The RoadMedic Key Registry will enable new vehicle owners to electronically register and associate their emergency contact information with their keys.
It will also offer emergency response personnel instant access to vehicle owner emergency contact information after a traffic accident.
According to the Next-of-Kin (NOK) Education Project, tt generally takes an average of six hours for family members to be identified, located, and contacted in the event of an accident. The RoadMedic Key Registry reduces this to a matter of minutes.
It also supports NOK legislation passed recently in California and Illinois, as well as pending federal legislation.
RoadMedic Key Registry data, for vehicles equipped with Automatic Collision Notification (ACN), is automatically delivered to emergency response personnel in real-time, using the 911 infrastructure.
For vehicles not equipped with ACN, emergency responders connect with the automaker’s 24-hour roadside assistance call centre to instantly access the data.
The collaboration is part of ADP’s enhanced strategy to open the DMS to strategic partners in order to provide better integration and wider adoption by the automotive market.
The RoadMedic Key Registry supports the recently released Emergency Responder – Electronic Health Record (ER-EHR) Use Case developed by the Department of Health & Human Services Office of the National Co-ordinator for Health Information Technology. The ER-EHR Use Case identifies the need for on-site care providers to gain real-time access to a crash victim’s Personal Health Record (PHR).
