All-in-One Mobility App Launching in Berlin

All-in-One Mobility App Launching in Berlin

Berlin’s main transport company is launching an app that aims to connect all of the city’s various mobility services.

Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) is partnering with platform developer Trafi to launch Jelbi, an app claiming to combine all of Berlin’s transport options. BVG says it will offer users access to bicycle, scooter, ride-sharing, ride-hailing, and all public transport services without them having to register for multiple apps. However, it adds that it will only incorporate “ten to fifteen private providers” initially, with more following later.

BVG board member Henrik Haenecke claimed Jelbi would allow users to “easily plan and purchase your journey, no matter what type of transport you prefer. Based on Trafi’s technology platform, we are able to once again offer a single and fully encompassing mobility solution for the people of Berlin”.

Trafi Germany managing director Christof Schminke added: “In Berlin, we are now spearheading how transport providers and cities can run their mobility network with innovative technology”. He claimed Jelbi is “the future of mobility”. It is due to launch this summer.
