3D Laser Mapping launches StreetMapper 360

StreetMapper 360 is a result of a joint venture between 3D Laser Mapping, German guidance and navigation specialist IGI and technology company Riegl.
The system employs the latest laser scanning technology for improved field performance and accuracy, precision navigation including a solution for reduced GPS coverage in urban areas, combined with a flexible, modular configuration and increased ease of use and deployment.
StreetMapper technology has already been used by a wide variety of organisations including the Danish Road Directorate, the Cambridgeshire Police, National Grid and Microsoft.
StreetMapper 360 offers a 360-degree field of view from the vehicle mounted laser scanners, with a range of 300 metres and a capacity of 150 measurements per second per sensor.
The onboard navigation system includes a GPS receiver, a fibre optic gyro-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and the latest Direct Inertial Aiding (DIA) to assist in areas of poor GPS reception.
